John P. Alar

Director

John Alar is a director at New Republic Partners, where he participates in portfolio construction and asset allocation for the firm’s clients, with a primary focus on NRP’s private equity and private credit platforms.

Prior to joining the firm, John was an investor at East Rock Capital, a multi-family office, where he focused on private equity opportunities. Before East Rock, he served as an associate for Ridgemont Equity Partners, a private equity firm, where he was responsible for deal origination and execution, investment decisions, and portfolio management. He began his career in investment banking at Wells Fargo Securities.

John graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Rhodes College with a bachelor’s degree in economics and business and a minor in computer science. He received his MBA with honors from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

John is a volunteer in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school system. He also serves as a pro-bono consultant to small businesses through Pacific Community Ventures.
